Today is April 12, 2021, and we are under a new administration in the United States, and nearing the control phase of the pandemic. With businesses and schools beginning to open back up, the summer is promising and the fall could be a return to somewhat normal life for many of us.

As we all take a collective sigh and look at ways to modify our lives toward safety as we venture out again, we cautiously step out the door and squint in the sun for a breath of fresh air. Though the air is sweet with possibility and expectation, it is also still stagnant in places with old ways of thinking, doing and being. The fear, suspicion and ignorance during the past decade came to a head forcing us as a country to look at truth. There are many still out there, however, who continue to struggle with the paradigm shift in cultural understanding.

I personally believe that the changes will continue to happen for my fellow humans, with the young leading our way forward guided by visions of equality and reasonable mutually beneficial solutions to our long standing problems. It is a revolutionary time for us all, but a time that brings growth and maturity to a diverse nation in the throws of young adulthood. It is all good, it is all in right order. We are witnessing a momentous period in our country’s development that is to become a major event in its history. I am so grateful to be here right now.
